How to take part in the 350,000 steps challenge
We want you to get into your stride and take on our mighty stepathon virtual challenge!
Anyone can get involved - have fun and keep active all whilst raising vital funds to support our work with children, young people and families across the UK.
To get involved, pick a month that suits you and join #TeamBarnardos to challenge yourself to walk 350,000 steps by the end of that month. Complete your challenge and raise at least £50 for Barnardo’s and we’ll send you a medal to say a huge thank you for being a fundraising super star!
Getting your steps in each day has so many incredible benefits including improving your physical fitness, boosting your mental wellbeing and even improving your focus. So why not set yourself the challenge and start getting your steps in for Barnardo’s! Whether it be in your local area, or even up and down your stairs, you can support us with your steps.
Steps to sign up
Step 1 - Register
Registration is free! You can sign up below, and choose to tackle the distance on your own or as a shared goal with your family or friends.
Step 2 - Get fundraising
Once registered, make sure you set up a fundraising page to start collecting sponsorship! Give yourself a goal to raise at least £50 by the end of the month and you’ll receive one of our medals.
Step 3 - Share your steps
Share pictures and updates on your fundraising page and on social media using #TeamBarnardos. Encourage your friends, family and work colleagues to sponsor you as you get stepping for Barnardo’s!
How your fundraising can help
Incredible things happen when you believe in children. With the support of your fundraising, we are able to continue providing vital support to the most vulnerable children and young people.
- £15 - could help cover the costs of a shopping basket of essential food items for a family. Thanks to you, a child could come home to a nourishing meal at the end of the day
- £25 - could buy school uniform and shoes for a child in need. Thanks to you, they could go to school feeling proud of their appearance
- £49 – could pay for household essentials including energy costs. Thanks to you, a parent might not have to worry about the cost of a teenager taking a shower
- £87 – could help cover the cost of a mattress for a child so they can sleep safely and comfortably each night in their own bed
