Fundraise for us to give Christmas back to a child in poverty

This winter you, your friends, family or colleagues could help change the childhoods, and change the lives, of children and young people living in poverty.

Your festive fundraising could mean a child going to school wearing a winter coat that fits them, having a warm meal to look forward to when they get home, and getting to curl up for a story in a proper bed.

Our festive fundraising guide includes lots of ideas, resources and real stories about our work across Northern Ireland. From decking your desk to getting creative and planning your own ‘26 challenge’ to raise awareness of the 26% of parents in Northern Ireland who struggled to provide sufficient food for their children in the past 12 months1.

How your fundraising could help children and young people thrive

  • £164 could help cover the cost of a bed for a child so they can enjoy a safe and comfortable night’s sleep without the need to share with a family member.
  • £240 could cover two month’s energy costs for a family struggling to make ends meet. You could relieve huge financial strain, and help a family come home to a warm house for the first time this winter.
  £750

could pay for warm coats and shoes for 15 children in need. With your support, children can feel warm and dry, whatever the weather.

“Barnardo’s came into my life like an angel”

David, a single dad from Belfast, and his children have been supported by our NI Early Intervention Family Support Service after David had to leave his job to care for his family.

We all want to feel safe, happy, healthy and hopeful

Right now, too many children, young people and families in Northern Ireland don’t feel like this. We aim to be there for everyone who needs us. It might be through our services supporting people facing a particular challenge, or through offering guidance and advice.
