What we do
Barnardo’s Bradford Psychology Service is a specialised service designed to offer tailored person-centred assessment, formulation, advice and consultation support for children and young people who have a diagnosis of a learning disability and/or are autistic. This can also include those children and young people on the waiting list for an assessment. The Service operates a closed referral pathway and all children and young people are referred through the Bradford Dynamic Support Register Team.
We work within an integrated health, social care and educational framework; supporting a multiagency approach that brings professionals, parent/carer and the family together to meet the needs of child or young person.
We provide high-quality, personalised care, ensuring that the young person’s unique needs and experiences of trauma and adversity are understood and are met with compassion, respect, and expertise. The overall aim of the service is to improve the holistic wellbeing and quality of life of children and young people and where needed for the parents/carers and family.
We can help with
- Advocating for children is at the heart of everything we do. We work to make sure children and young people with disabilities are included in community activities and decisions about themselves.

- No child should be left to deal with poor mental health alone so we provide services supporting children and young people's emotional health and wellbeing. We have centres where children and young people can visit and have a trained worker they can trust and talk to. We help them build their confidence and get to the root of their difficulties so they can feel safer, happier, healthier and more hopeful.
