What we do
Barnardo’s Empowering Change (BEC) provide specialist whole family and individual support for those who have been impacted by substance use at an additional level. We adopt a strengths-based approach and aim to develop resilience whilst supporting emotional wellbeing and family relationships. Our support aims to reduce the level of risk and harm within the family home or for individuals and we can also provide practical support with appointments, routines and home conditions. Additionally, we have access to CARF income maximisation services for benefits and budgetary advice. We offer families up to 3 hours of support each week to work towards their own goals.
Referrals are accepted via Fife Social Work Service, Health, Addictions Services, Education, self-referrals and through other third-party organisations.
We can help with
- We support children and young people when an adult close to them, or they themselves, use substances in a way that becomes problematic, harmful, or dependent. We offer them advice and information on the impact of high risk behaviours, such as drug or alcohol misuse, violence and domestic abuse. We also provide access to intervention and treatment services, along with one-to-one and peer support.
