What we do
Fife Substance Use Education Service facilitates interactive, educational sessions with all primary (P7) and secondary schools (S3) in Fife on substance use as well as supporting S2 teachers to deliver alcohol education. Additionally, the service facilitates substance use education sessions with other groups of young people who may not be in mainstream school settings.
The Barnardo’s Substance Use Education Service takes a capacity building approach and, to this end, provides a toolkit of lesson plans and resources for teaching staff as well as delivering workshops for professionals and parents/carers to raise awareness and build capacity around substance use.
We can help with
- We support children and young people when an adult close to them, or they themselves, use substances in a way that becomes problematic, harmful, or dependent. We offer them advice and information on the impact of high risk behaviours, such as drug or alcohol misuse, violence and domestic abuse. We also provide access to intervention and treatment services, along with one-to-one and peer support.
