What we do
Barnardo’s Action With Young Adult Carers is a Liverpool city-wide community-based service that ensures young adult carers age 18-25 in Liverpool can receive a carer’s assessment, support plan and review to meet their needs to reduce the negative impact of caring for an adult.
Young adult carers provide or intend to provide unpaid care, assistance or support to an adult family member who has a physical illness/disability including mental ill-health, sensory disability or has a problematic use of drugs or alcohol.
Reduce the negative impact of caring, socially, emotionally, and on education/employment/training.
Young adult carers can receive 1-1 support, breaks from caring opportunities, group activities and meetings, personal development opportunities and safety planning for the person they care for.
We can help with
- Young people with caring responsibilities have all the challenges of being young, with all the responsibilities of being an adult. We support children and young people who care for and look after family members affected by health issues, disability or substance misuse. We help them look after their loved ones and give them time to enjoy their childhoods.
