Barnardo's responds to the Government's announcement to roll out family hubs in 75 communities throughout England.
Barnardo's CEO, Lynn Perry MBE said:
“Today’s announcement is a welcome recognition of the vital role family hubs play in supporting the physical and mental health of children, parents and carers from pregnancy through to adulthood.
“Barnardo’s delivers support at 62 children’s centres and family hubs throughout England and we know they give families vital support to avoid children going into care, reduce the need for more specialist and costly support, minimise the risk of criminal exploitation and boost young people’s opportunities in later life.
“Barnardo’s research found that family hubs can also save the taxpayer millions of pounds a year as every £1 invested in a service saves the state around £2.60 in the long-term.
“That’s why we are calling on the Government to go further and invest in a family hub for every community. It takes a village to raise a child and this support needs to be embedded into the fabric of every community throughout the UK to prevent more families from reaching crisis point.”
