Barnardo's responds to the publication of the Draft Victims' Bill

The UK's leading children's charity is pleased the Draft Victims' Bill will contain a joint statutory duty requiring public bodies to collaborate when commissioning support services for victims of sexual, domestic and serious violence.

In a statement Barnardo's CEO Lynn Perry MBE said:

“Barnardo’s has long called for a statutory duty on local agencies to commission specialist services for victims of Domestic Abuse – including child victims.

“We welcome today’s announcement of a joint statutory duty on public bodies to collaborate when commissioning support services for victims of sexual, domestic and serious violence in the Draft Victims' Bill.

“Ensuring that the new duty is accompanied by dedicated, multi-year funding for specialist children’s domestic abuse and sexual violence services will be key.”
