A mixed methods evaluation of Barnardo’s LINK Adoption Support service, which provides therapeutic support to birth family members, adoptees, and adopters.
The findings show four features are effective and central to the way the service works – a therapeutic approach, a network of therapists, flexibility of services, and adaptability to internal and external environments. Service users regarded their LINK counsellor highly and reported improvements in their wellbeing. While stakeholders felt service users benefitted from LINK’s work, communication between themselves and LINK could be improved.
