What we do
Advocacy for Children In Need
The Leeds Children’s Rights Service may be able to offer support to children and young people (Age 5 – 18) where they are being supported by a Social Worker on a Child in Need plan in Leeds.
This service is aimed at children and young people who may be unhappy with the support that is included in their Child in Need plan, disagree with decisions that are being made, or feel that their wishes and feelings are not being heard, and are struggling to engage with the process.
The child or young person can be supported by an independent advocate to help make sure that their wishes and feelings are being listened to by talking with people, like their Social Worker, on their behalf, as well as attending Child in Need meetings with them or in their place. The advocate will ensure that the child or young person is kept informed of what is happening and decisions that are being made, in a way that is easy for the child / young person to understand. The advocate can meet with the child / young person in a place that they feel comfortable talking to them, such as school or college or their home.
This support is voluntary and is entirely up to the child or young person if they would like to have an Advocate.
If you think you or someone that you know, whether that’s a family member or someone you are supporting as part of your role, would benefit from this support then please contact our team on 07808 736330 or email: [email protected]
