The food we eat as children – and the nutrients we receive even before we are born – has a huge impact on our health and wellbeing. Unfortunately, there is growing evidence that here in the UK, far too many children and young people are missing out on the nutritious food they need to thrive.
New research from Barnardo’s ‘Nourishing the Future – making healthy food accessible for every child’ exposes the barriers many children, young people and their parents face in accessing nutritious and healthy food.
Barnardo’s set out to learn from the experiences of young people who have been discharged from Tier 4 units. The aim was to enable young people’s voices to influence emerging and ongoing service developments in local authorities and Integrated Care Systems areas particularly in England.
This briefing provides information in support of amendment NC6 to the Renters’ Rights Bill. If inserted into the Bill this provision would provide increased support for care leavers seeking to rent in the private rented sector.
